ANGKOR THOM
Angkor Thom ("Great City")
This is my personal favorite for aesthetic and sentimental reasons. The last great city of the Khmer Empire. This is where the king, his family, the servants, generals, and priests lived. This walled city has countless of statues of soldiers that lead up to the five very intimidating entrances (23 meters high) for everyone who walk through it. The temple in Angkor Thom is called the Bayon. The Bayon consists of 50 towers each with four faces carved on it, typically known as the "faces of Angkor". When I walked around Angkor Thom, all I could think about was how similar it was to Machu Picchu, the last great city of the Inca Empire.
